Frequently asked questions

▸What's the difference between the Meet Stick and the cloud desk?

The Meet Stick is a one-off purchase — a USB that runs the whole meet on one laptop, completely offline, no subscription. The cloud desk (Club Desk / Federation Desk) is an annual subscription for a club or federation running a calendar of meets — unlimited meets, white-label branding, and a cloud archive. Same screens and scoring either way.

▸Does Rackcall need internet at the venue?

Only the cloud desk does, and only to stay live-updating — a brief drop just leaves a screen showing its last known state until the connection comes back, since every screen also reconciles itself automatically. The Meet Stick needs none at all: the desk, the display, and the scoring all run on one local machine.

▸How is the lifting order worked out, and does it update itself?

It's always sorted by the weight about to be lifted, lightest first, recalculated the instant an attempt is logged or a weight is changed — nobody has to manually reorder a queue. For Weightlifting, women's bodyweight categories always run as their own group ahead of any men's category, so the bar never has to be swapped mid-session.

▸What if a lifter doesn't show up, or hasn't weighed in yet?

Mark them No-Show on the Setup page — it takes them off the Run Sheet/Entry screen and out of the count entirely. That count matters because the very first attempt of the meet is locked out until every other entered lifter has a weigh-in on record; once that first attempt is logged, the gate has done its job and won't block anything else for the rest of the meet. No-Show can be toggled either way right up until that first attempt, then it locks, the same as the officials roster.

▸Can a coach change a different coach's athlete by mistake?

No. Each coach sets their own PIN the first time they use the portal, and once verified, that device locks to them for the rest of the competition — switching to a different coach's name always asks for that coach's own PIN again, even if they used the same device earlier in the day.

▸What if I log an attempt by mistake?

“Undo last attempt” on the Entry screen removes it and restores the weight that was actually called — but only while it's still the most recent attempt for that lift, the Run Sheet hasn't moved on to another lifter, and the event isn't marked completed. If the rack has already moved past that lifter, a “Remove anyway” override appears instead, with a confirmation prompt, for correcting a mis-entered attempt noticed after the fact. Either way, the action is written to the audit log.

▸What scoring system does Rackcall use?

GL points for Powerlifting, Sinclair for Weightlifting — both computed automatically from bodyweight and total the moment a lifter's bodyweight is recorded, using the current published coefficient tables for each sex.

▸Do I have to assign weight categories manually?

No — a lifter's weight category is worked out automatically from their recorded bodyweight the moment a weigh-in goes in, and the compact category badge next to their name on the Scoreboard updates itself at the same time. You can still nominate a category up front at registration or in Setup if you want to, but it's never required.

▸Can we put our own logo and colours on the display?

Yes — set a logo and accent colour once for your organisation, and every competition's Display, Scoreboard, and Run Sheet screens pick it up automatically. The room sees your brand, not Rackcall's.

▸What happens when we mark an event completed? Can we undo it?

The public Scoreboard switches to a rolling final-results display and the Run Sheet/Coach screen shows results by weight category. It's deliberately one-way — there's no undo — so only mark it completed once the result is genuinely final (after any protest is resolved, for instance).

▸Do you support record verification?

Record verification itself isn't something Rackcall does or sells — it comes down to the level of referees officiating that meet, not the software tier. What Rackcall does provide is a signed, tamper-evident Event History export, so whoever does the verifying can trust the results handed to them haven't been altered afterward.

▸What is the Club Kit, and can I buy it now?

The Club Kit is Rackcall's own hardware — wireless referee call pads with majority judging, a wireless clock remote, and a platform-side down signal/buzzer. It's currently in development and will be an optional add-on to a cloud subscription (Rackcall retains ownership of the hardware itself) — register your interest from the Billing page and we'll reach out once it ships.

▸What's the Meet Stick's cloud sync, and do I need to pay for it?

Once an event on the Meet Stick is marked completed, an operator can sign in with their Rackcall cloud account and archive that meet's signed results to their organisation's cloud account — a permanent, searchable record beyond the USB itself. It needs an active cloud subscription; if the account doesn't have one, Rackcall sends you straight to the billing page instead of failing silently.

▸Something's gone wrong mid-meet — who do we tell?

Use “Report a problem” on the Setup page — it goes straight to Rackcall's own dashboard, and a reply shows up as a highlighted box back on your Setup page the moment it's resolved, so you know to try the thing that was broken again.
